Finished Couch Quilt

I finished this over the weekend and threw it on the couch.  It's a bunch of squares with meandering quilting and measures 40-something by about 60".   It emptied a little spot in the fabric stash.

It is cute. Did you do the whole thing?

Thanks! Yes, I made it. If I'm not sewing clothes, I'm sewing quilts!

It's beautiful. Which machine did you make it on?

This quilt was completely sewn on my 15-91 --piecing, free motion quilting, and binding (with walking foot).

Very pretty! I'll have to ask my 15-91 to make one for me. :)

Pretty pretty!

Is there any way you could post a picture of the binding? It's the most tedious and difficult part of doing a quilt for me. I'd love to know of an easy and/or foolproof way of doing it. Thanks!

I found your blog by happenstance and love reading about your sewing adventures. I share your affection for old sewing machines, thrift shops, and vintage finds of all descriptions. And this quilt is so pretty! What a treat for your family. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone!

@ KC --I'm sure your 15-91 would be glad to make one for you! You might have to help it a little though!

@ d'anne --I agree about the binding. I always sew it down on the front side of the quilt (using the walking foot) then fold it to the back and hand sew it down. Sometimes I enjoy the hand sewing and other times I just want the thing done already.
I don't know of any easy foolproof ways. I did see a tutorial once on machine sewing it down and tried it, but it didn't look good and I had to pick it out (very tedious) --apparently it takes practice. I think I found the tutorial through Sew, Mama, Sew...it might have been at Red Pepper Quilts, in fact.
